At the 2010 WSOP!

Crazy "Prop" Bet Tour

If you have read anything about me at all, or have perused through this blog you will see that I recently participated in the "Craziest Last Longer Bet" Promotion sponsored by Ultimate Bet.  Well, as you know by now, my friend Gregg "Manimack" Magee and I won this promotion.

We went to Vegas and played out our bet in event number 54 at the 2010 World Series of Poker.  The stakes of the bet were, the person who busted out of the tournament first had to get the hand that they were knocked out with tattooed on their body along with the UB logo.  And if that was not enough, they had to meet and marry a girl in Las Vegas before they could come back to FL.

All I can say is thank god I won the bet.  Gregg, true to his word, got his tattoo at diversity tattoos on the north end of the strip right near the Stratosphere.  He got knocked out with pocket aces, and you can see a picture of the tattoo on the 'My WSOP experience page" of this blog.   As for the marriage part, he met a girl and actually proposed to her at the UB party which was held at the Mandarin Bar in Mandarin Oriental in City Center.  By the way, UB knows how to throw a great party.  We had a blast!

As for the actually getting married part, Gregg never went through with it.  He avoided me for quite some time before coming to me with an offer to buy his way out of the bet.  Well, in the immortal words of Marlon Brando,"he made me an offer I couldn't refuse."  He offered to pay for my entry into the Florida State Poker Championship's Main event in the beginning of August.  So you may be sitting there thinking thats the end of it.  This is just the beginning.

Gregg and I are planning to do many more crazy "prop" bets throughout the rest of the year and all over the country.  Right now we are in the works of our next bet at the Florida State Championships.  We are going to try help raise money for charities while doing these outlandish things so at least someone benefits from all of this craziness.  If you have a charity that you would like us to sponsor or make a donation to, please contact me to see if we can make it happen.

Also if you have anything you would like to see us bet on, please feel free to make a suggestion, and maybe if you make a nice donation YOU can even pick out the next "prop" bet that we will do.

All of our bets will be documented so you can follow along every step of the way.  And who knows, maybe you can be involved in the next bet.  Just go easy on us.  Please.

The Crazy "prop" bet tour continued at the Florida State Poker Championships at the Isle Casino in Pompano Beach Florida. The tournament turned out to be a huge success. Gregg and I played the $1100 buy-in 3 day main event. After the first day, I ended up with 33,000 chips and Gregg with 27,000. The chip average was 54,000. We were a little short, but we hit our goal of making day 2. Day was an up and down day for me. The money was rapidly approaching and my chipstack that I had built up to over 100k was down to about 60k. Then Mike Matusow gets moved directly to my left. Great, one of the greatest players in the world is sitting right next to me. Well, we talked almost the whole time and I played some of the greatest poker of my life. I tripled up and was again in contention. Gregg had just come over to me and announced that he was knocked out and I had won the bet. He went out in 53rd place which was just 12 away from the money. It was still a nice showing. Well, I was through to the money and after 12 hours of play, made it to day 3. I had 259k in chips which was again below that average. A few hours in to day 3, I made the final 2 tables when I was dealt pocket Queens, and I was in a 3 way pot with all of the money in the middle before the flop. First guy turned over AQos and the Big blind turns over pocket Kings. Not looking good for me. Well the flop came AAx so after the turn I was drawing dead and out in 17th place. Even a few weeks after the tourney I am still replaying the hand in my head and wondering why I couldn't get away from my Queens. Oh well. I still am very proud for making a nice payday, and more importantly going up 2-0 on our "prop" bet tour. By the way, if you haven't seen the videos the bet was that the loser has to wash all of the cars at the Autoquest Dealership. Not an easy task in this August heat. The next tournament is looking like it will be memorial day weekend at the isle again in Pompano. I will keep you posted as to what the stakes will be and which tourney we will be playing. He should be washing the cars soon, so I will be sure to get video of it. Can Gregg win his first "prop" bet and last longer than me in a tourney? We have yet to see, but we will sure try again soon.
